Blanche Bayar Religious School

Welcome to the Blanche Bayar Religious School of Congregation B'nai Israel. We believe that the role of our school is to complement the family as a nurturer of the religious, social and educational values of Judaism. Together, parents and staff, we strive to foster the concept of mitzvot (commandments) as a total, ongoing part of our students' Jewish identity.

Blanche Bayar Religious School is committed to the philosophy and practices espoused by Conservative Judaism.

Highlights:

  • Primary "Camp" - Our kindergarten through 2nd graders travel in small groups of 7-9 children led by their Madrikhim (teen counselors). After a visit to their beit (home base), each group gathers for "boker tov" (good morning), a session of singing, dancing and tefila (prayer). The rest of the morning is a full schedule of activities including Hebrew acquisition, games, arts and crafts and a "trip" to Israel.
  • "Kulanu" - a program for students with special needs. Through the guidance of our coordinator, a unique and specific course of instruction is provided for every child.
  • Students in grades 3rd through 6th grades, attend BBRS on Sunday and a weekday. Each day is divided into class periods allowing for individualized and small group programming. Classes include a "davening" (worship) period, Hebrew reading instruction and the study of the Tanakh (Torah).
  • Ivrit l'Mitkadmim program allows students to learn conversational Hebrew.
  • Students entering the public schools after attending Golda Och Academy or other yeshivot will find receptive teachers to work at the level of the entering students.
  • Each Sunday, students in grades 3rd - 6th grade end their day with clubs. These groups offer an opportunity for the students to do bibliodrama, arts and crafts, Israeli music, and dancing.
  • Teen Israeli Shaliach - representative - will be on campus on Sundays and meet informally with students.
  • 7th graders choose a major and create a graduation project based on an area of specialization.
  • Students in all grades will benefit from virtual conferencing with students in Israel and other school communities in the USA and Canada
